While not the best combat ship, the Charon frigate is commonly used for planetary invasions.

OverviewEdit

The cheapest of all UNSC frigates, these ships partake in planetary invasions. While relatively effective in large numbers, this ship will be destroyed in one shot by most ships and is severely outclassed by its bigger brother, the Paris-class Heavy Frigate, in combat.

HistoryEdit

One of the smallest starship classifications, these frigates are mainly tasked with ferrying supplies and personnel. Though armed with heavy weapons like a MAC and Archer Missiles, they have low durability and cannot defeat even the smallest Covenant ships unless used in large numbers. Yet, despite this, they are one of the most common ships used by the UNSC. This is because of their ability as one of the largest human-built ships to enter and operate in atmosphere, providing fire support and ferrying troops, supplies and even civilians to and from the battlefield.

Charon-class Frigates were used right from the beginning of the war. At the first battle of Harvest (the first ship-to-ship engagement in the conflict) Battlegroup 4 comprised of two of them, CMA Vostok and Arabia, who engaged a Covenant battlecarrier, though both were destroyed almost instantly. In a polar opposite, two more Charon Frigates, UNSC Aegis Fate and Forward Unto Dawn, were used at the end of the conflict during the Battle of the Lesser Ark.

Weapons and Tactical UsageEdit

These ships should never be used as your normal combat vessels. Though they are cheaper and have faster build times, they have a weaker MAC and have inferior armor when compared to more frontline vessels such as the Paris-class Frigates. Instead, these ships should only be used as a siege vessel against enemy planets to take their worlds thanks to their ability to deploy ground troops.
